RSIS Strengthens Its Position Among Top African-American Firms
January 24, 2005
RSIS keeps rising to the top of the Black Enterprise100, the list that registers the largest revenue-producing companies owned by African Americans.
In its new 2004 Report, the magazine lists RSIS as the 15th largest African American-owned company among all industrial and service companies in the nation. Last year, RSIS placed 19th.
Rodney P. Hunt,RSIS President and CEO and its majority owner, said the company’s ever-rising place among other African American-owned companies is due to “a tremendous amount of hard and smart work by RSIS professionals who know how to go out and get business and keep it with an unsurpassed commitment to serving the customer.”
“Pleased as we are with how far we’ve come, we’ve still got a long way to go to fulfill this company’s potential,” Hunt said. “In three years, we intend to be a $500 million company.”
RSIS nailed down 15th place on the Black Enterprise list with 2003 revenues of more than $260 million. With revenues rising every year since its founding in late 1993, RSIS’ strong 2003 showing came against every-increasing competition in the federal marketplace and a constantly evolving business environment.
As the publishers of Black Enterprise note, “In today's environment, BE 100 companies must be fit, fast, and inventive not only to survive but to thrive. Whether running a mom-and-pop or a leviathan, today's CEOs must view their companies' longevity through a Darwinian prism.
“That business paradigm has not been lost on the chief executives of the nation's largest black-owned businesses. The BE 100s have had to compete with their peers as well as Fortune 500 monoliths….Companies are facing a more discriminating customer base that prizes, above all else, quality, value, and efficiency.”
